ITINERARY
IMUYA/CUYABENO
Day 1- Quito - Cuyabeno National Park The lakes Imuya and
Iripari seem to vanish in the largeness of the jungle. They are situated inside
the Cuyabeno National Park and belong to the lake system of Lagartococha,
that incorporates 30 lagoons with black water. In the upper Amazonian basin,
they belong to the last protected areas for flora and fauna, which flourishes
because of the closeness to the Andes, one of the greatest plant- and animal
variety in the whole Amazon area. You can find jaguars, tapirs, sloth, different
kind of monkeys and hundreds of different species of birds that still live,
untouched by humans, in the primary forest. Every lagoon has its own ecosystem,
that provides the living space for the Amazonian-dolphin, the enormous Arapaima
fish, 4 different kinds of caimans, piranhas, and anacondas. An extraordinary
exception of the lake Imuya are the swimming islands, on which large parts
of the jungle mysteriously move from one place to the other. Flight to Lago
Agrio and transfer to Chiritza. With the canoe you will go down the Aguarico-river
to the Aguarico camp. After dinner there will be a night walk through the
jungle. F/M/A (B/L/D)
Day 2- Cuyabeno National Park In the mornings you will go
bird watching and after breakfast go out with the canoe. You will take the
